Accommodations and Meals
CYA provides shared off-campus accommodation in safe residential areas in the Pangrati neighbourhood of central Athens. This neighbourhood is close to sites, monuments and museums. It is also within walking distance of cafés and grocery stores. The apartments are furnished with a kitchen that has basic cooking equipment and tableware. The cost for accommodations for the duration of the program (May 8 to June 5) is CAD$1,850.
Note: Students in this program cannot opt out of accommodation.
There is no meal plan. Students will be able to prepare food in their apartments and there are also many places nearby to eat. Students should budget approximately CAD$500 for meals.
No group flight is available for this program; students must make their own travel arrangements. Please note that if you choose to arrive earlier or leave later than the program dates, you will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation for the extra days. The Summer Abroad office will send recommended flight details to admitted students. CYA will offer airport transfers to students who choose to take this flight.
Please note that the Greece program starts in Athens on Friday, May 8 and ends on Rhodes Island on Friday, June 5. Students are expected to check out of the Rhodes Island hotel on Friday, June 5 and make your own arrangements for return travel from Rhodes Island (e.g. arrange for travel back to Athens and then return home).
All students are responsible for making sure that they have the necessary travel documents to enter the countries listed below as visitors.
As of the time of publication (December 2019), Canadian citizens only require a passport valid for at least three months beyond their return date to enter Greece as a visitor. Citizens of other countries may require visas.
Information on entry requirements is available from the Consulate General in Toronto.
