Portugal (July)

Accommodations and Meals

Students will stay at a University of Lisbon residence, which is a 30-minute bus ride from the ICLP campus. The dormitory is home to both international and Portuguese students. Students in the program will be accommodated in double rooms.

There is no meal plan. Students will be able to prepare food in their apartments and there are also many places nearby to eat. Students should budget approximately CAD$500 for purchased and self-prepared meals for the duration of the program.

Flight

No group flight is available for this program; students must make their travel arrangements. Please note that if choose to arrive earlier or leave later than the available dates for the accommodation options you have selected, you will be responsible for arranging your own housing for the extra day(s).

Entry Requirements

All students are responsible for making sure that their necessary travel documents are in order for them to enter Portugal as visitors. Information on the entry requirements is available by visiting the Global Affairs Canada website. Please note that most governments have implemented special entry and exit restrictions and requirements for their territory due to COVID-19.

Information on entry requirements is also available from the Portuguese Consulate.

NOTE: International students who need to apply for a short-stay visa should apply for it in Toronto.  Students can request a letter of support to assist with their visa application by emailing portugal.abroad@utoronto.ca after the program deposit has been paid to the Summer Abroad office.

EDIA and Portugal

As you plan your Summer Abroad journey, it is important to take the steps to decide whether this program is the right fit for you, and fits your individual needs related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). Summer Abroad has put together an online webpage for EDIA resources and information in Portugal which contains information regarding how to navigate Tours, France with your unique lived identities, as well as relevant accessibility information.

Health and safety information: all students admitted to the Summer Abroad program are required to successfully complete an online Safety Abroad Workshop, which will provide information and advice on international health and safety issues. Students are also required to attend the online Portugal Pre-departure Orientation in May (details shared with students after admission).
