Refunds/Withdrawal

All withdrawals must be made in writing (by email) to the Professional and International Programs office.

The University of Toronto is not responsible for costs paid to other service providers, including (but not limited to) passport fees, vaccinations, accommodation, and transportation costs such as airfare.

Submitting a Summer Abroad application indicates your intent to participate. Once submitted, the application fee is non-refundable, except if a student is not admitted in which case a partial refund will be provided.
Summer Abroad Deposit ($1,000) Before or After Deposit Deadline

At the time of admission to a Summer Abroad program, each student is required to pay a $1,000 deposit to secure his/her place in the program.

Applications to all Programs

  • Students who apply to a Summer Abroad program and are not admitted will receive a $100  refund of their application fee.
  • Students who are admitted to a Summer Abroad program and choose to withdraw from their program will not be refunded any portion of the application fee.

Applying to Two Programs

  • Students who apply to two Summer Abroad programs must submit the application and $210 application fee for each program.
  • If both applications are successful and you only wish to proceed with one program, you will have one week to submit the deposit and secure your spot for the program of your choice. Please note the $210 application fee will not be refunded when you decline an admit offer. 
  • The $210 application fee will only be partially refunded ($100 refund amount) if an application is unsuccessful. 

Applying for Financial Needs-based Awards Administered through the Woodsworth Summer Abroad Office

  • If your award application is unsuccessful and you wish to withdraw your program application, you will receive a $100 refund of the application fee. Please note this refund policy only applies for financial needs-based awards. 
  • If you are offered an award and you choose to withdraw your program application, you will not be refunded any portion of the $210 application fee.
