Accommodation, Travel and Safety
Our students will be staying in a student hostel on the University of Iceland campus. They will be accommodated in double rooms with private washrooms, and each floor offers free Wi-Fi and shared kitchens.
The hostel is centrally located in Reykjavik, just a short walk from downtown, the main shopping street (Laugavegur), and major landmarks such as Hallgrimskirkja, Harpa, and Perlan.
Group Flight
No group flight is available for this program; students must make their own travel arrangements. Please note that if you choose to arrive earlier or leave later than the program dates, you will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation for the extra days. The Summer Abroad office will send recommended flight details to admitted students.
Entry Requirements
All students are responsible for making sure that they have the necessary travel documents to enter Iceland as visitors. Information on the entry requirements for Iceland is available by visiting the Global Affairs Canada website. Please note that most governments have implemented special entry and exit restrictions and requirements for their country due to COVID-19.
If your flight plans include a stopover in another country (even if it is just a few hours long), you should also check that country's visa requirements in case you require a transit visa for the stopover.

EDIA & Iceland
As you plan your Summer Abroad journey, it is important to take the steps to decide whether this program is the right fit for you, and fits your individual needs related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). Summer Abroad has put together an online webpage for EDIA resources and information in Iceland, which contains information regarding how to navigate Germany with your unique lived identities, as well as relevant accessibility information.
Health and safety information: all students admitted to the Summer Abroad program are required to successfully complete an online Safety Abroad Workshop, which will provide information and advice on international health and safety issues. Students are also required to attend the online Iceland Pre-departure Orientation (details shared with students after admission).
