Scotland: Edinburgh

This will be the first year that the University of Toronto offers a Summer Abroad program based in Edinburgh, Scotland. HIS298Y0 Introduction to the History of Scotland, taught by Professor Mairi Cowan, is designed to provide students with an introductory survey of Scottish history from the first humans in northern Britain to the modern age.
Students will earn a full-year History credit in four weeks while living and learning in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland.

The capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its Old Town and New Town are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Edinburgh is a political and cultural centre. It is the seat of the Scottish Government, and home to the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland, and the Scottish National Gallery.

Edinburgh Castle - on a site that has been occupied since the Iron Age - and the Palace of Holyroodhouse - official residence of the British monarch in Scotland - are connected by the Royal Mile.

The city has also long been a centre of Education. The University of Edinburgh is one of the finest research institutions in the world
Program Activities
In addition to course field trips, the program will include the following activities:

- City Walking Tour
- Farewell Group Dinner
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in optional excursions, with an additional cost (to be confirmed in December).
