Science Abroad - China: Taiwan (July - August)

Human Biology in Taiwan

Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, August 9, 2025 (7 weeks) 

Students will be encouraged to run a small research project under the direction of the lab supervisor. In each laboratory, students will have the opportunity to learn the techniques and data analysis required for the specific research project, participate in lab discussions and journal clubs, and take part in scientific research presentations. Students will earn an HMB396Y0 credit that can be used towards their degree requirements. 

Program Details

This program takes place in the College of Biological Science and Technology at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. NYCU is a top research university with more than 10,000 students and is located at the centre of Hsinchu Science Park (the “Silicon Valley” of Asia). More than 40% of the engineers and CEOs in this area are NYCU alumni. Students will be conducting research mainly in university laboratories. Some research topics in Taiwan include Bio nanotechnology, Molecular Biology and Metabolic Engineering.
