I’m looking forward to studying POL300Y, as it offers a unique opportunity to connect my academic interests in international relations, politics, and sociology with lived experiences in Greece, the birthplace of democracy. As well, on a personal level, this course resonated with my passion of travelling and immersing myself with diverse perspectives of local communities, cultures, cuisine, and lifestyles. Immersing myself in Greek culture will not only enrich my understanding of the region but also enhance my ability to appreciate and analyze global issues through a multicultural lens. Indeed, it will provide me with the tools to critically engage with the theoretical concepts of governance, societal transformation and influence, and cultural/communal resilience, which are essential to my long-term academic goal of pursuing a career in public policy with an emphasis on social justice, law, and cultural understanding. Moreover, POL300YO is more than an academic course for me- it is an opportunity to grow intellectually and personally. By engaging and exploring Greece’s rich cultural tapestry, I hope to gain a deeper knowledge of the nuances of our contemporary society as well as current global affairs, which I will then use to my future endeavors. This program will not only deepen my understanding of global political dynamics but also support my long-term goals of pursuing a career in public policy grounded in social justice and cultural awareness.
