England 2021 Social Media Correspondent Video

Following her virtual Summer Abroad experience in CRI389Y, our Social Media Correspondent, Daniella, had this to say about the course:

Hello everyone! I have put together a quick video showing some of the highlights of the CRI389Y0 virtual abroad course! First, I take you through one of our virtual trips to the British Museum located in London, England. The Museum highlighted some important aspects as seen through the clips I have provided. This (virtual) trip was very interesting since it was taking us through the museum as if we were walking through it ourselves. Further, we had a guest lecture by Dr. Adrian Grounds on forensic psychiatry regarding those who have been wrongfully convicted. Here, we learned about the psychosocial aspect of those wrongfully convicted and analyzed their behaviours pre and post-incarceration. Next, we went on another virtual tour to the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford, England. Similar to the British Museum, we were able to get a full walk-through of the museum while our professor pointed out some really interesting aspects. Lastly, we had a guest lecture by Professor Julian Roberts regarding his field of experience which is sentencing guidelines. Here, we looked at landmark cases and other scenarios that emphasized discrepancies within sentences given. Overall, this course was a fascinating look into legal traditions and ideologies that were founded upon the UK legal system and its parallels within the Canadian legal framework.
