2021 Summer Abroad Media Contest

The Summer Abroad program seeks media representations (photographs, vlogs, TikToks, artwork, stories, blogposts...we leave the creative part to you!) of your virtual Summer Abroad experience! All entries will be considered for prizes and may be displayed on the Summer Abroad website and social media channels and in promotional materials.

Deadline: Friday September 3, 2021 at 5 pm

Prizes:

• First Prize: $100 gift card* and exhibition on the Summer Abroad website
• Second to Fifth Prize: $50 gift card*

* Prize winners to choose gift card vendor from a select list

Submission Guidelines:

• Entrants must complete the Summer Abroad Media Contest application and upload their submission(s) by Friday September 3, 2021 at 5 pm.
• The application can be found by logging onto the Summer Abroad application portal.

Official Rules:

• Registered virtual Summer Abroad participants are eligible to enter the contest.  Each Entrant can enter up to five media exhibits. If submitting photographs, they must be in a high-resolution format as JPEGs. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and shared via hyperlink to summer.abroad@utoronto.ca.
• Photographs or videos that include sculptures, statue, paintings or other works of art will be accepted provided they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud (when photographing someone else's work, the object must be in the environment and not a full-frame close up of the work in question).
• By entering the contest, the Entrant acknowledges and warrants that the submitted media is an original work created solely by the Entrant, that the media does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the media. The Entrant accepts all responsibility for any copyright issues that may arise.
• Contest judges reserve the right not to accept any media without explanation.
• By entering the contest, the Entrant grants permission to the Summer Abroad office to use the submitted media on the Summer Abroad program website and social media as well as in other promotional materials.

Judging:

• Media submissions will be judged by the Summer Abroad Program Director and one or more staff members associated with the Summer Abroad office.  Winners will be announced by mid-September 2021.

Limitation of Liability:

• By entering this contest, all Entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless the Sponsor and its affiliates from any claims, losses and damages arising out of their participation in the Contest or any Contest-related activities.
