England: Canterbury (June - July)

Accommodation and Meals

Students will be staying in a student village accommodation on the University of Kent campus. Students will stay at houses at the University of Kent campus and live in a 5 or 6 bedroom house; with single bedrooms and shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.

The bedroom houses have shower and toilet facilities upstairs, with an additional toilet downstairs. The kitchen has an oven, fridge/freezer and microwave, sink and kettle.

The Canterbury campus has excellent transport links and is easy to get to and from London. More information can be found here: https://www.kent.ac.uk/maps/canterbury

Students will have access to a KentOne Card that will be pre-loaded with £10/day during the duration of the program (27 days). This card can be used in a number of catering outlets and shops on the Canterbury and Medway campuses. Students are expected to budget approximately $600 for other meals. Please visit the costs section of the website for further details.

Entry Requirements

All students are responsible for making sure that their necessary travel documents are in order for them to enter the England as visitors. Information on the entry requirements for England is available visiting the Global Affairs Canada website

As of December 2023, Canadian citizens only require a passport valid for at least six months beyond their return date to enter the the UK as a visitor. Citizens of other countries may require visas.

If your flight plans include a stopover in another country (even if it is just a few hours long), you should also check that country's visa requirements in case you require a transit visa for the stopover.

All students admitted to the Summer Abroad program are required to successfully complete an online Pre-departure Orientation (PDO), which will provide information and advice on international health and safety issues. Students are also strongly encouraged to attend an in-person program specific PDO (Date to be confirmed).

Flight

There is no group flight for this program; students must make their own travel arrangements. However, there will be suggested flight itinerary for this program. The University of Kent will offer airport pick-up and drop-off. Details will be provided at the time of admission.

Please note that if you choose to arrive earlier or leave later than the available dates for the accommodation, you will be responsible for arranging your own living and transporation arrangements.
