Ecuador 2021 Social Media Correspondent Video

Following her virtual Summer Abroad experience in ENV382H, our Social Media Correspondent, Tanisha, had this to say about the course:

Here we are—at the end of the ENV382H0 Introduction to Ecuador #SummerAbroad class. In only three weeks, we explored the natural environments, culture, and history of this remarkable country through lectures, activities, and discussions. From discussing equitable trade with an artisanal coffee producer in the #Galápagos Islands and learning about Indigenous cultures’ use of plants in the #Amazon rainforest to tasting Ecuadorian chocolate and cooking delicious traditional dishes, our introductory tour of #Ecuador has been exciting and educational. It has also given us the perfect background to enhance an in-person trip to experience the diversity and natural beauty of Ecuador for ourselves. Personally, I would like to see the rich Amazonian #biodiversity of Yasuní National Park, hike up the Chimborazo volcano near #Quito, and spot Darwin’s famous ground finches for myself in the Galápagos. Until then, our learning from ENV382H0 will stay with us as we become more mindful of the impact of our consumption on the natural world as well as the producers and farmers behind our favourite goods. Thank you to our instructors, @usfqopi facilitators, guest speakers, and fellow classmates for this wonderful experience. Adiós, at least for now.
