Health & Safety

The Department of Foreign Affairs advises Canadians to exercise a high degree of caution while in Kenya due to the possibility of security incidents, terrorist attacks and also because crime against foreigners (especially theft of money and valuables) remains a problem, particularly in cities.

If you are under medical care of any kind, you should consult both a physician and the Professional & International Programs Office before applying.

Students will be expected to respect the health and safety rules of each facility. Often, these rules will restrict independent activity. Care must also be taken when travelling in Nairobi and students are strongly discouraged from using local public transportation. Students will be expected to follow the directives concerning risk provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs. Further information will be provided at the Pre-Departure Orientation.
