We're excited to welcome seven students to our work study team this year! Two of our students have participated in on-site programs: France & Hong Kong. Three students have participated in virtual Summer Abroad programs: England, South Korea, China (Global), and Beijing & Tianjin. Finally, three students bring a great deal of experience with student engagement on campus and a passion for experiential and international learning.

These students will be representing the Summer Abroad office at virtual events at UTSG, UTM and UTSC. They will also be hosting drop-in hours to offer peer advice on Summer Abroad, see the events page for details about upcoming drop-in sessions.

Hey everyone, my name is Andrew, and I am currently in my 4th year at UTM studying Statistics and Mathematics. I have previously participated in RSM295 International Management in Hong Kong in 2019 and SOC393 Contemporary Chinese Society virtually the past summer. From my Summer Abroad experience, I think the two biggest takeaways are: you can add an international educational opportunity to experience real-world situations abroad, which would benefit future career opportunities; Secondly, you can also have the chance to connect with experts and build a global network. My Summer Abroad experience is a highlight of my undergraduate journey and I am looking forward to sharing it with you in our upcoming session!

Hi! I'm Anna, a 3rd year Public Policy and Mental Health Studies Student. I believe that International Education makes you a better global citizen and I was not able to go abroad so I want to do my part to encourage others to take the leap towards the life-changing experience of studying abroad. I am really excited about the RSM395Y0 course hosted in South Korea!! I have always wanted to go to Asia and am very interested in how the country's culture and history of Korea affect international businesses.

Hello everyone, my name is Athena, I am a third-year Rotman Commerce student specializing in Finance and Economics. As someone who has been studying abroad since the age of 14, I truly cherish the international learning experience. Immersing in a completely different environment not only allows me to develop my language skills, but also shaped me as an independent self-starter. I have been waiting for Covid to be under control to travel again, and I am very excited for the South Korea summer abroad program!

I'm really excited about the Summer Abroad programs this year and am hopeful about the return of on-site courses! I'm looking forward to sharing more about 2022 opportunities.

Jaden in Versailles, France

Jaden B

Hi! My name is Jaden, and this is my third year working with the SABR office. I currently study Health & Disease and Immunology, but I participated in the 2019 France program in French History! I love encouraging science students to use SABR courses to expand their knowledge in topics that they otherwise wouldn’t consider in their study field. That being said, I’m excited to see the France program start up again and inspire students in the same way that it inspired me.

Hello everyone! My name is Angela, and I am a third-year political science student at UTSG. International experiences have been fairly crucial for my personal philosophy and the nature of my academic program. I believe that learning should not simply be listening to lectures in a classroom, as it is necessary to build the connection between academic material and real-life experience. The summer programs that I am most excited about is the summer program in England and China. I cannot wait to explore the country in person as I truly believe that real education is an inquisitive process that allows one to travel both physically and intellectually
